Roma: Aperta per moda

Una forte sinergia creativa e istituzionale, infusa di memoria, sperimentazione e atmosfera: è con questo scenario che Roma si apre, dal 13 al 18 luglio 2003, alle Collezioni di Alta Moda Autunno-Inverno 2003/04.

E “si apre” davvero, la città, offrendo nuovamente alla sua settimana della moda l’Auditorium e il Tempio di Adriano, cui aggiunge Via Margutta, anch’esso luogo simbolo della sua storia personale e culturale. Ma soprattutto, pur intensificando il legame con la tradizione della sua couture, Roma “si apre” alle nuove proposte, alla ricerca e alla sperimentazione di giovani stilisti italiani e stranieri, rappresentanti entusiasti di quella Next Couture che il Presidente di AltaRoma, Stefano Dominella, reputa vitale per la ridefinizione del ruolo di Roma nel sistema moda italiano.

Roma, dunque, come piazzaforte di una tradizione di alto artigianato da salvaguardare, ma anche vivaio di nuovi glamour e nuovi studi materici e tecnici, di sicuro interesse per gruppi industriali, distributori italiani ed esteri, per neo stilisti. Progetto complesso, eppure forte del sostegno della Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, della Regione Lazio, del Comune, della Provincia e della Camera di Commercio di Roma. E di quell’humus storico-culturale che fa della Capitale una sede ideale per promuovere, attraverso contaminazioni con l’arte e con il cinema, la moda italiana nel mondo.

Appuntamenti

Battesimo della settimana dell’Alta Moda romana, l’11 luglio, con il ricevimento al Quirinale riservato al Gotha istituzionale e della couture italiana: una formale cerimonia di benvenuto da parte del Presidente della Repubblica e Signora ai partecipanti alla manifestazione.

Dal 13 luglio, giorno di inaugurazione ufficiale delle Collezioni, al 18 luglio si avvicenderanno in calendario sfilate e performance di 4 categorie di stilisti: COUTURIER, NEW GENERATION, NEXT COUTURE E FORMAZIONE GIOVANI.

• Moda e Istituzioni
  13 luglio ore 20,30 - Serata ‘Eva contro Eva’ presso l’ippodromo della Caserma dei Carabinieri ‘Palidoro’di Roma, mai aperta a raduni non istituzionali. L’idea di una gran defilé con indossatrici-amazzoni e cavalieri in divisa, in un carosello di musica, suoni, luci e danze, è ispirata al libro ‘All about Eve’ scritto dalla prima ambasciatrice americana Claire Booth Luce, compendio di femminilità da cui il regista Joseph L.Mankiewicz trasse il celebre film ‘Eva contro Eva’ con Bette Davis, Anne Bancroft e la debuttante Marilyn Monroe.
• Moda e Cultura
  14 luglio ore 17,30- 23/24 - 'AltaRoma a Via Margutta’: la moda entra nel cuore artistico della città con mostre, sfilate, performance e installazioni di giovani creativi.

A concentration of creative and institutional synergies, imbued with memories, experimentation and atmosphere: it is against this backdrop that, from 13-18 July, Rome will open its doors to the 2003/04 Autumn-Winter Haute Couture Collections.

And the city will truly “open its doors”, by once again offering the Auditorium and Hadrian’s Temple to its fashion week; to these will be added Via Margutta, also a symbolic venue of its personal and cultural history. But, above all, despite intensifying its link with the tradition of its couture, Rome will “open its doors” to the new proposals, research and experimentation of young Italian and foreign designers, the enthusiastic representatives of that Next Couture that the President of AltaRoma, Stefano Dominella, considers vital for the redefinition of the role played by Rome in the Italian fashion system..

Hence, Rome as a stronghold of the tradition of the highest level of craftsmanship to be safeguarded; but it is also a breeding ground for new glamour and new technical and material studies, of undeniable interest for industrial groups, Italian and foreign distributors and up-and-coming designers. A complex project, yet strongly supported by the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, the Regione Lazio, the Municipality, the Province and the Rome Chamber of Commerce. And it is that historic-cultural humus that makes this capital an ideal venue to promote Italian fashion throughout the world, also through cross-links with art and cinema.

Important Dates

Inauguration, on July 11, of the Roman Haute Couture week with a reception at the Quirinal reserved for VIPs and the élite of Italian couture: a formal ceremony, with the welcome speech to be given by the President of the Republic and Italy’s First Lady.
From July 13, official inauguration date of the collections, to July 18, the calendar program will include the fashion shows and performances of 4 designer categories: COUTURIER, NEW GENERATION, NEXT COUTURE AND YOUTH TRAINING.

  “Eva contro Eva” evening at the hippodrome of the Rome ‘Palidoro’ Carabinieri Barracks,
  a first-time ever venue for non-institutional functions. The idea of a fantastic fashion show –
  with models on horseback and cavaliers in uniform, in a whirl of music, sounds, lights and
  dancing - is inspired by the book All about Eve by the first american lady ambassador
  Claire Booth Luce, a pot- pourri of femininity on which the director Joseph L. Mankiewicz
  based the famous film “All about Eve” with Bette Davis, Anne Bancroft and a young Marilyn
  Monroe.
